  15.           XXXXeeeepppphhhheeeemmmm is an interactive astronomical ephemeris program for
  16.           X Windows. It has built-in support for all planets plus
  17.           support for arbitrary objects given their heliocentric
  18.           orbital elements. Xephem generates tabular and graphical
  19.           schematic views of the sky and solar system objects, can
  20.           plot and list data, and can search for arbitrary user-
  21.           defined circumstances.

  23.           Xephem contains extensive context-senstive on-line help.
  24.           Virtually none of that help is duplicated here so go ahead
  25.           and run xephem to learn more. In order for xephem to find
  26.           this help text the resource `XEphem.HELPFILE' must be set to
  27.           the pathname of the xephem.hlp file.

  31.           The main menu of xxxxeeeepppphhhheeeemmmm provides control and display of
  32.           three basic services: observing circumstances, looping, and
  33.           access to additional displays.

  35.           Observing circumstances includes location, time and
  36.           atmospheric conditions (used for the refraction model).
  37.           Looping refers to the ability to set xxxxeeeepppphhhheeeemmmm so that it
  38.           automatically increments time and a desired step size and
  39.           rate.  The additional displays provide all of the tabular
  40.           and graphical information available, and always refer to the
  41.           circumstances defined in the main menu.  The additional
  42.           displays are activated from the _V_i_e_w_s pulldown.

  44.           XXXXeeeepppphhhheeeemmmm has information about the Solar system planets and
  45.           several moons built in. These can be accessed without the
  46.           need to access an external database. However, if a database
  47.           of objects is available then xxxxeeeepppphhhheeeemmmm can read this
  48.           information into memory and use it as well. The database is
  49.           read in using the _D_B... pulldown. The objects may be
  50.           inspected in detail, manipulated and assigned to so-called
  51.           `user defined objects' X and Y using the _O_b_j_X/_Y... pulldown.

  53.           All of the tabular data that xxxxeeeepppphhhheeeemmmm presents can be written
  54.           to a file and later plotted, written in a tabular listing,
  55.           or used to formulate an arbitrary mathematical expression
  56.           that can be solved for a maximum, minimum or zero. All of
  57.           these facilities are accessed from the _C_o_n_t_r_o_l pulldown.

  84.           to tune to your taste and circumstances; many others may be
  85.           left unchanged. Look through the XEphem.ad distribution for

  89.           supports the usual Xt resources such as -display, -xrm, -fg
  90.           and -bg.

  95.           want such a list, build xephem for X11R5 and use the editres
  96.           feature. The necessary code is in xephem.c surrounded by
